One Year Placement
October 2014 – September 2015

The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee trust, Comic Relief, and the Royal Commonwealth Society are working together on an exciting new programme. This fund will recognise, celebrate and support young people (18-29) across the Commonwealth. It will do this in two ways:

• An Awards programme to celebrate the achievements of exceptional young individuals.
• By providing Grants to support organisations in select countries in the Commonwealth that work with young people.

Please see http://www.queensyoungleaders.com/ for further information of the programme.

They are looking for up to 12 young people aged 18-29 from across the Commonwealth to join their Youth Panel
. As a panel member you will contribute meaningfully to the decision-making processes of the Queen’s Young Leaders’ Programme by advising on how best to achieve the goals and outcomes on the programme. You will ensure that the development and delivery of the Queen’s Young Leaders’ Programme is of the highest possible quality by representing the views and interests of young people.

The commitment for this role is to attend one meeting per year based in London (13th and 14th November) and a further 4 half day virtual meetings throughout the year. An additional 3 to 4 days reading and preparation time will be required throughout the placement. Panel members will receive training and support in their role as well as gaining vital experience at board level.

For this role as a panel member you will be articulate and willing to get involved. They are ideally looking for people with committee or board experience in the past and they require panel members to have excellent relationship building skills and previous experience working or being involved in at least one of the Programme’s priority areas (youth-led social action, youth voice and participation, youth employment and enterprise).

You will not be expected to have international experience but any insight into the attitudes of young people outside your country is encouraged. Your passion for young people’s issues should come across clearly in your application as they need your passion and experience to enhance our programme.
